I’m a sucker for anything Armand Van Helden does, & this track from his amazing ‘2Future4U’ album is a perfectly mellow foil to the stomping thunder of lead single ‘U Don’t Know Me’. This is the perfect late night song to me…
“When someone asks me if I’ve found Jesus, I say, “Yeah, I saw him at a Nirvana concert a couple of years ago.” It’s like, Jesus has got things to do, he’s got a ten o’clock. He’s not going to fix things for me, I have to fix things for myself, so I try and have a sense of humor about it and nobody finds my humor very amusing. We’ve just got to lighten up on the savior bit, folks. You know, get off the cross, we need the wood.”
I love this cover from the all painted ‘Marvels’ mini-series from the 90’s that showcased Marvel events through the eyes of a normal person. This cover says so much, and is so well done. I would frame this like art and put it on my wall. So I also picked some emotional covers for today. Casey Stratton is a queer singer, who’s debut album got some popularity after Junior Vasquez remixed 2 of his songs. However I was most fascinated by his covers of my favorite alterna-divas (and one by New Order… who weren’t divas)!
Well, the X tour has officially started, & judging from the set list & pictures, it sounds like a fantastic show!! They posted one last behind the scenes clip before opening night, & it was fabulous!! I love how Kylie compares herself to Dolly Parton near the beginning!!
So, I saw Iron Man on opening night, like a dutiful nerd (special thanks to Shantytown for joining me), & I must say, I LOVED it!! Robert Downey Jr. was an amazing choice, and everyone was great it it, even if Terrence Howard sounds like a flaming homo the whole time. And the film was so successful, that Marvel felt confident enough to release their upcoming plans for bringing more funny books to the screen…
Iron Man 2 - Marvel - Scheduled for April 30, 2010 release Thor - Marvel - Scheduled for June 4, 2010 release The First Avenger: Captain America (working title) - Marvel - Scheduled for May 6, 2011 release The Avengers - Marvel - Scheduled for July 2011 release
Plus, ‘The Incredible Hulk’ is due out later this summer & the Punisher sequel in the fall, AND Wolverine should be out in 2009. Also in talks for film development are Magneto & Ant-Man projects; and rumors abound on Spider-Man 4. But the Avengers news has really got me moist like a snack cake. Can’t wait!!! (Even if I will be 30 by the time these movies come out!).
