November 2007

I thought I already threw this badass little remix on here… but in case you missed it, Queering The Apparatus requested it 3 weeks ago (from Mexico no less) so here it is.

Revel in it’s fabulosity!

Kylie Minogue – 2 Hearts (Kish Mauve Remix)

Alison Moyet – The Coventry Carol
The voice of Yaz delivers a haunting and laid-back take on Christmas classic that dates back to the 16th century.

Mariah Carey – Santa Claus is Comin To Town (Anniversary Remix)
Say what you will about Mariah, but the skank put out one of the best Christmas albums ever. I was leery of a remix of this song, but all it did was give the song a bit of hip pop flavor, but not too much. Enjoy!

She’s at it again!! To promote and celebrate her tenth album, ‘X’, Ms. Minogue is taking her show on the road. Only in Europe for now, starting May 6 in Paris and concluding in London on July 27th, Kylie will be performing 24 dates in 20 cities. No word at this time about the show making it to the US, Asia, or Australia, but one can always hope. And cross their fingers. And pray. God Knows I’m dying to see her, so maybe I’ll make it across this time. WHo knows, either way, the show sounds great!!

Kylie said: “I am putting together a show that is going to be a new and exciting experience for both the audience and myself. The eclectic mix of sounds on ‘X’ is affording me an opportunity to explore and develop a new live show that will be fresh, exhilarating and innovative. After two celebratory tours, ‘X’ will be a look to the future but will definitely include favourites alongside the new. I can’t wait to share it with you next year! See you soon!”
By the way, ‘X’ is out this week in Europe, so rush out and get it if you live there. If you live in the US, just dowload it, and buy the real thing in February when it gets it’s stateside release!

Kylie Minogue – Wow (live on The Kylie Show)

Kylie Minogue – I Believe In You (Ballad version from The Kylie Show)

Goldfrapp – A&E
I got the new Goldfrapp single. It’s not due out until February. I was worried that their new sound would be too sleepy and dull. I was wrong. This single is AMAZING. It’s starts out all folky & relaxed, and sort of expands into something glamorous and huge. Not what you’d expect, but I’m amazed. Enjoy!!

Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime
I’ve never been a big fan of Sir Paul post-Beatles, however he knocked the Christmas gem out of the park. What with all the synth influences and what not, it hardly sounds like any song he’s ever made before or since.

Celine Dion – Feliz Navidad
I should hate this song. The song, though a classic is pretty trite & silly, much like Celine. However the thought of that crazy French-Canadian Diva tackling a Spanglish classic is hysterical. You should give it a listen to how dumb it sounds. Always good for a Christmas giggle!!

Probably fake. Totally Funny!

Britney Spears ft. Lil’Kim – Gimme More (Dirty Remix)

Up until now, I had kind of tolerated Brit-tit-tit’s new song. It’s a good song for her, but nowhere near the best song ever. It is now though. The bald one scored my girl Kim to do the remix. You go Britney! Or Brit’s management (more likely)! Either way, the song is even better now!

Kim has said her new album will drop February 14, 2008 – Valentine’s Day. Hopefully that is true & accurate, because I can’t wait!!! For now, dig the teaser single:
Lil’ Kim – Chillin’ Tonight (Dirty)

Ella Fitzgerald – Sleigh Ride (Latin Project Remix)
A few years back a CD called ‘Merry Mix-mas” was released. The prospect of a Christmas Remix CD was both horrifying & enthralling. This 1 however is excellent. While not dance remixes per se, the songs on this CD were slightly tweaked into a more loungemodern sound. Worth checking out!! (However avoid all those shitty euro-dance cds like the plague!!)

Christina Aguilera – The Christmas Song (Thunderpuss 2000 Radio Mix)
Okay, and then on the flipside, this remix is decent, if not extremely dated & kinda faggy. However, at this time of year, I enjoy it for the fluff that it is. It’s also interesting to hear a circuit-y dance mix for a song with no chorus.

Authority Prime #2 – The mini-series continues. Wish they could lock a team down for a proper ongoing.

Black Panther #32 – The new old Fantastic 4 run into Gangsta Skrulls during their outer space voyage. That’s right, Gangsta Skrulls.

Cable & Deadpool #47 – Dr. Strange guests stars (awesome!!!) & we hopefully get some hints about the fate of Cable (finally!!!).

Marvel Zombies 2 #2 – A strong sequel to the now classic mini-series. Have no fear about this one being a cheap cash-in.

Sensational Spider-Man #41 – I wish Petey would hurry up & dump M, & Aunt May would just get better. They’ve been toying with this idea since the Civil War ended… & now it’s just going on for too long without a decision. Oy!

Sub-Mariner #6 – The conclusion to Subby’s latest mini-series. We finally learn how Atlantis became abandoned, and hopefully, where Namor ran off to.

World War Hulk: Front Line #6 – The aftermath of the Hulk’s return to Earth. Who gets to clean up the mess!?

X-Men #205 – The next chapter in the awesome crossover, I’m guessing by the cover, we get to find out more about what’s going on with Sinister & the Marauders.

Finally I get around to the man who made Cyclops sexy in all 3 X-Men flicks. Mr. James Marsden has also appeared in Superman Returns, but I didn’t like that movie, so this is me overlooking that misstep. He has been in some other movies that were actually good, including ‘Hairspray’, ‘Enchanted’, ‘Zoolander, ‘The Notebook’, and he was even on ‘Ally McBeal’ for a season. Besides being a popular actor, he’s also hot in that midwestern farm boy kind of way.
