With all the excitement building for the next Fantastic Four movie coming out this weekend, I’m taking this opportunity to spotlight the ‘original’ Fantastic Four movie.

Alledgedly, this movie was created on a shoestring budget in the early 90’s so that the now-defunct movie company ‘New Horizons’ could hold the film option. They got Roger Corman to do it, but there wasn’t quite enough money to even make it good on a campy level. It’s just bad & has been permanently shelved. Stan Lee has said in interviews that it’s a shame because most of the people involved on the project really tried hard, but never got the memo that this movie was never supposed to be released, but made just to hold the license. The trailer is on youtube and it’s worth a watch (then a cringe). I’m sure that the new movie this weekend will be infinitely better!
